Let's Get Wet !!!


Thailand's New Year which famely known as Songkran
is celebrating start on 13th April every year.

The word of "Songkran" was comes from Pali language and Sanskrit word
which mean movement or changes.

The festival officially last for 4days.

Maha Songkran Day is the first day which marked for end of the year.



14th of April - the day between of the ending of old year and beginning of new year
where foods are prepare in temples.

The third day of Songkran, is Wan Thaloeng Sok
the beginning of whole new year


this ceremony is practising by every Thai even in school

And the last day - Wan Parg Bpee
the ancestors and elders are being honored
pouring small amount of scented water on to the elder's head
as a sign to respect
which most of the Thai will go back hometown to meet their elders.


Uh oh!! get SPLASH !!!!

Bangkok Songkran Festival is seem to be the most frenzies in the Thailand
especially in the Khao San Road - the Bangkok center of backpackers

Grab your GUN now, and get ready to splash'em wet !!!

Another popular place for splashing is in course of
Nana Plaza
and Soi Patpong
which attracting lots of foreigners for getting wet !



ChiangMai, is the most top destination for Songkran festival in Thailand.
The water fighting which held in Kad Suan Kaew Plaza
holds a large crowds for Songkran event each year.

Moreover, you can enjoying the beautiful yellow blossom
of Ratchaphreuk (Dok-Kun)
which will only blossom during hot season.

If you prefer the beach side Songkran experience,
you can try for the Koh Samui,Pattaya or Phuket,
as the water fight between local and foreigners
can be last more than a week!


It is nice to get splash and wet in this most frenzied festival
as it was the hottest month in Thailand

smile Smile and SMILE all around !

  1. I am amazed by your explanations on the Songkran! Did you go to splash water in all those places? In the South, it was slightly different coz they had street processions plus week long night fairs in villages. They also had Miss Songkran Pageant which often attracted hordes of old hamsap men from the jungles & hills. LOL... Then most well to dos would exchange gifts like Christmas!

    there was a International Songkran Music Festival in the South too, in KohSamui.
